Xiaogukong xiǎo gǔ kōng · 小骨空

Location. On the back of the little finger, at the midpoint of the transverse crease of the proximal interphalangeal joint.

The name mirrors the preceding point: xiao means small, and this is the hollow at the knuckle of the little finger, the knuckle nearest the hand. It is a point outside the fourteen channels, and it belongs to the same small group of extra points named after the bone hollow they occupy rather than after a function. As with Dagukong, classical writing records moxa here more often than needling, and later literature discusses the point in the context of the eyes and of the finger joint itself. The classical record is thinner than for the channel points on the hand, its reported effects are not established by modern research, and this entry makes no claim of benefit.
