Xiajishu xià jí shù · 下极俞

Location. On the low back, in the posterior midline, in the depression below the spinous process of the third lumbar vertebra.

The name is usually read as the shu point of the lower pole, the lower pole being the low back itself. It is a point outside the fourteen channels, and it sits on the posterior midline rather than on one of the two paraspinal lines. Modern Chinese acupuncture textbooks list it among the points discussed in relation to the low back and the lower abdomen; the classical record for it is thinner than for the Back Transport points at the same level, and this entry makes no claim of benefit.
