Shiqizhui (17th Vertebra) shí qī zhuī · 十七椎

Location. On the low back, in the posterior midline, in the depression below the spinous process of the fifth lumbar vertebra.

The name is a count rather than a description. Counting downward from the first thoracic vertebra, twelve thoracic plus five lumbar makes seventeen, so the seventeenth vertebra is the fifth lumbar and this point lies just below its spinous process. Some texts count from the seventh cervical vertebra instead and place the point one level higher, so sources differ by one level; this entry follows the common textbook placement below L5. It is a point outside the fourteen channels.
