Location. In the mouth, on the floor of the mouth, on the sublingual vein to the right of the frenulum of the tongue; the point is taken with the mouth open and the tip of the tongue raised to the palate.
The name mirrors the preceding one: yu is jade and ye is fluid, so Jinjin and Yuye, gold fluid and jade fluid, are named together for the saliva that collects under the tongue. This entry follows the common textbook assignment, with Yuye on the right of the frenulum and Jinjin on the left. It is a point outside the fourteen channels. The two are recorded as a pair and are almost always described in the same breath, which is worth saying plainly because a reader will not find separate classical discussions of each: what is written about one is written about both. Classical sources record pricking the vein to release a drop of blood, and later literature discusses the pair in the context of the tongue, of speech and of the mouth. The classical record is thin, the reported effects are not established by modern research, and this entry makes no claim of benefit.
