Location. On the low back, about 3.5 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of the first lumbar vertebra, one point on each side.

The name means the root of pi. Pi is the classical term for a subjective lump or fullness in the abdomen rather than a growth, and the point is named for that complaint. It is a paired point outside the fourteen channels, one on each side, at the level where the first lumbar vertebra sits.
