Zhongkui zhōng kuí · 中魁

Location. On the dorsum of the middle finger, at the midpoint of the transverse crease of the proximal interphalangeal joint.

Zhong means middle, for the middle finger, and kui is an old word for a chief or for the raised head of a ladle; here it refers to the knuckle itself, which is what the point sits on. It is a point outside the fourteen channels and, like several points on the fingers, it is described in classical writing more often with moxa than with needles. Later acupuncture literature discusses it in the context of belching and vomiting. The classical record is thinner than for the channel points of the hand, its reported effects are not established by modern research, and this entry makes no claim of benefit.
