Safety. Two cautions outrank the traditional indications. First, talc is a mined mineral and its deposits can occur alongside asbestos-form minerals; cosmetic talc has been the subject of regulatory review and litigation on exactly that point, so any talc taken internally must be pharmaceutical grade and certified free of asbestos. Second, no talc powder should be inhaled: the dust is a lung hazard, and that applies to infants as much as to anyone else. Internally, the substance is classically avoided in pregnancy and where the spleen and stomach are weak and cold. This entry gives no amount and does not recommend internal use.
