SI18 · 手太阳小肠经

Quanliao quán liáo · 颧髎

Location. On the face, directly below the outer canthus of the eye, in the depression below the lower border of the zygomatic bone.

Category. Crossing point 交会穴（古典列为小肠经与三焦经之交会）

The only point of the meridian on the cheek, and the last before SI19 in front of the ear. The name names the bone directly: 颧 is the cheek bone, 髎 a hole or depression. Some classical lists record it as the meeting of the Small Intestine and Triple Burner meridians.

定位。在面部，目外眦直下，颧骨下缘凹陷中。

特定穴。Crossing point 交会穴（古典列为小肠经与三焦经之交会）

小肠经在面颊部的唯一穴位，也是经脉上行至耳前听宫（SI19）之前的最后一穴。穴名直指所在之骨：颧为颧骨，髎为骨隙凹陷。部分古典文献以此处为小肠经与三焦经之交会。

On the cheek over the zygomatic bone, where the infraorbital nerve and branches of the facial nerve cross and the skin is thin. Directing a needle toward the eye is avoided; this is a practitioner judgement and not suitable for self-treatment.
