SI14 · 手太阳小肠经

Jianwaishu jiān wài shū · 肩外俞

Location. In the upper back region, at the level of the lower border of the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra, 3 cun lateral to the posterior median line.

The outer one of the two "shoulder transport" points on the upper back — SI15 is the inner one. The name records the position rather than any use: a transport point (俞) on the outer side of the shoulder region.

定位。在背部，第 1 胸椎棘突下旁开 3 寸。

背部两个「肩俞」穴中偏外的一个（内侧为肩中俞 SI15）。穴名记录位置，即肩部外侧之俞穴，不含用途表述。

An upper back point over the rib plane, with the lung beneath. Pneumothorax is the recognised risk of needling too deeply in this region, so depth and angle are strictly a practitioner judgement. Not suitable for self-treatment.
